Life of a SAHM

Today, two of my (sg) friends commented that they are so envious I dont have to work & living a relaxing tai tai lifestyle.

I WISH.

You know, its not an easy route. Even more so now. Every morning when I wake up, I thank God I am well because there are so much to do & my kids need me, I cant afford to be"feeling under the weather".

Despite the tiring mundane routine of looking after my kids & the endless housework to do, I am very happy to be able see the little & big things they learn everyday... I am enjoying all the love & attention from them.

SAHM is a blessing!

Dont you think so, kids?

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Little artist

I am very amazed with Kayla's imagination & her passion for drawing

... SPIDERS !!

No one taught her. Definately not me! I hate reptiles and creepy insects !!!

She also drew (in her own words) a fried egg and a alligator float !!!

CNY + Australia Day

This year 大年初一 coincides with Australia Day so lucky for daddy he didnt have to work. Unlike Singapore, there are no holidays for CNY !

We celebrated CNY the Australian way, at Bicentennial park. Thank God the weather was not burning hot (but poor me still got burnt!). It was a full day event from 12- 10pm. When we reached the park at 1pm, it was already packed with picnic-kers and children.

"Why on my hand?!?!"

The kids loved the "petting zoo" (they fed, pet and tortured the goats! haha!!) and the free pony rides.

Treated ourselves to some "heavenly" ice-creams. The grass was so clean & dry, we could sit anywhere.

The kids enjoyed running up and down the grassy slope. chasing the birds.

And lastly.. thank you gong gong & popo for the special ang pows !!

Our reunion dinner

We had our family reunion dinner at one of the restaurants we love to patronize- Sylvia's vietnamese restaurant.

Kieran's kungfu outfit was "recycled" from the last Chinese New Year. It fitted him perfectly. I loved it but he didnt! He threw a tantrum just as we were leaving the house :P

Colouring is fun

Milestone: Colour within the lines

After weeks of practising her strokes, Kayla has better grip control. She is able to draw straight lines & colour nicely within the lines :)

Well done !!

Little diary is 1

Exactly one year ago, I started a blog to document my children's precious moments & have also inspired some of my friends/cousin to do so. Its a great way to keep in touch !

I'd wish I have documented my pregnancies, birth stories and my breastfeeding journey!

Oh well..

Same fate !

Aiyo, jie jie has the same fate as Kieran !!!

Hate summer and I hate the mozzies that keep attacking my children. Of all places, their eyelids!! Thank God for fly/mozzie (window) screens in my new house !

Playgroup @ Rachel's

Aunty Rachel invited us to her place for breakfast. Aunty Valerie & little Zac were there too. Its a pity we cant organise such gatherings on a weekly basis due to different schedules.

Xin Nian Kuai Le

Its really depressing to be away from home during CNY. No holidays, no celebration, no yummy cookies & bak kua !!!

Coincidentally, 26th January is Australia day (National day). There will be a big celebration at Bicentennial park (free children's rides, face painting, live music, pony rides & outdoor movie!). So we will be celebrating Xin Nian Kuai Le the Australian way! Ha Ha!!

Anyway, this was what we received from gong2 & popo ! Xie Xie !!!

My frowning princess

Recently, Kayla frowns to show she is upset/angry.

This morning, she accidentally spilt her cup of milk and I scolded her for being so careless. It was a big mess. I had to clean the table, floor and the legs of the chairs. I was so preoccupied with the cleaning, I din respond to her apologies.

And she FROWNED for a long time !!

It was such a amusing sight that I had to swallow my anger & take a photo of her expression. Ha ha ha!!!

Ikan billis fried rice

This was the first dish my mother in law cooked when daddy brought me to his house for the first time, and I love this dish ever since !

Its so easy to prepare! It is made up of cucumber, eggs, chillis, tomatoes, onions and ikan billis of course.

I've packed some for daddy to bring to work tomorrow & the rest (no chillis added) will be enjoyed by me & the kids.

Long summer evening

During summer, the sun sets at about 8.30pm. After dinner, we brought the kids to the outdoor playground just opposite our apartment. It was quite cooling today & it felt like autum already !!

Photos taken at 8pm. Still so bright !!

Eric Carle books

Kayla loves Eric Carle books and I enjoy reading them to her too ! Very meaningful & interesting!

This is his all time popular title "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" (Learn to count with the Caterpillar and learn about its life cycle.)

The other titles Kayla has are:

A chameleon's antics with colour, shape and size show what makes each animal different and why its important to be yourself.

The bad-tempered ladybird picks fights with every animal it meets but soon learns the importance of friends.

Kindermusik

We went for Kindermusik demo class this morning. There were about 9 children between 18mths to 3yrs old. Kayla was good and Kieran? He was distracted by the coloured chart on the wall behind us most of the time. But when it was time to clap, hop & play with the rhythm sticks, he was all attentive!

We look forward to attend all the 16 lessons with them!

A child's prayer - Answered !

We had 2 days of intensive negotiation with the developer. The long wait almost killed our interest in purchasing the unit. We were quite certain they would reject our offer and all prepared to get back our deposit.

But very strangely, Kayla kept saying Jesus told her to start packing as we will be moving very soon. I didnt take her words seriously.

This morning I rang the agent and told him to return our deposit because we were so tired of the wait and "fruitless" negotiation. He said ok, he will arrange to mail a cheque to us.

2hrs ago, the agent called to say offer accepted!

Dear God, thank you.

A child's prayer

Over the weekends, we went home-hunting & found a place we like but the developer hasnt come back to us on the price.

So, I asked Kayla to pray and she did. Then she shouted, "ITS COMING!". I freaked out and asked her "WHO??".

"A VERY BIG HOUSE, HA HA HA!", was her reply.

Faintz.

Now my dear Kayla, you need to pray for your brother's swollen eyelid!

Bitten by a mosquito!

Cycling

It was a beautiful day to cycle. Kayla was able to pedal faster this time & we reached our "destination" in no time.

IKEA.

Enjoyed being "tom pang".

Before heading home, we stopped by the park for the kids to play with the dogs.

Playground nightmare

Kan cheong mummy gets very tense when the kids are at a crowded playground.

As mischievious as they are at home, they are extremely mild at play in public places. So when I see other children running & pushing around, I start to panic! There were a few times Kayla was hit by another kid, accidentally & intentionally !!

Today, I saw a girl hit Kayla on her hand because she wanted Kayla to give way ! The devil in me wanted to tell Kayla to fight back.

Advise please.

Snowed !!!

I'd wish it'd snow in Sydney BUT definately not in my bedroom !

I was on the phone with my mother in law when I walked into the room to check on the kids. It was snowing !!! My kiddos emptied half bottle of the baby powder onto the carpet and all over my TV console ! Kayla was shocked to see me & Kieran continued to play with the snow.

Too hopping mad to take any photos!

They looked really funny though! Hair, nose & cheeks covered with powder. Ha Ha!

Brain food

I was looking forward to bring the kids to the library for "storytime" at 11am (every wed). Then this morning when I called the library to confirm, they told me it will only start end of Jan!!

Anyway, we decided to go ahead.

Bringing them to the library was more challenging than I thought. Kayla was too fascinated by the new environment to concentrate. Kieran, as expected, was busy exploring the children's area!!

Read to me, mummy?

Before I could even start reading, Kieran walked away...

... to show off his computer knowledge to a girl !!!

Overall, they had fun exploring the books & getting to know other children. I made some friends too!!

Bicentennial Park

Dancing in the wind

Today, we chanced upon this big park near our home. It was beautiful. Shall let the pictures do the talking...

Cannot wait to go out.

We were standing on a steep grass slope. No idea what was on the other side...

This was what we saw.
