No matter how naughty & how disobedient they are sometimes.. when I see them laughing, talking & loving each other, all my tiredness & anger melt away.

I often see people expressing their appreciation for their spouse in their blog & facebook and I begin to wonder when was the last time I openly express my gratitude to Richard..

Many asked me how do I manage 2 toddlers, housework & still remain quite sane?

Answer: a loving, supportive, understanding & able-to-tolerate-my mood swings husband !

Rainbow connection

This is the 1st time Kayla saw a very close-up semicircular rainbow & she was overjoyed, so was I !!

Iris & Edgar

Last week my laptop adapter AND battery, less than 450 days old, died on me ! I had to call Dell to courier the adapter to me asap because I felt like a "hermit" without my laptop !!

I am very fortunate to know a mom from HongKong, at Kindermusik. Iris is a SAHM to a 2.5yrs old boy. Last Wednesday was the first time we met outside of class, had lunch together & then she came over to my place to gossip! The thing that amazed me was the effort & time she spends on preparing her son's meals everyday. From her, I learnt about the different types of herbs & meat which are good for kids. She even taught me how to prepare tonic soup to re-charge myself !

Yesterday I made heavenly cantonese-style fish soup. Will take a photo & post the recipe when I cook it again next week.

Piping hot beef soup

I come from a family of soup lovers. My children grew up drinking yummy home-cooked soups & I think its the best way to get any vegetables, proteins & vitamins into them. No mess too - just throw everything into the pot & simmer for hours !!




2 pcs of 牛剪 (cantonese)
White radish
Carrots
2 slices of ginger

Simmer for 2.5hrs. Serve warm with rice !

Granny's recipes

I havent been putting much effort to cook for the family. Daddy & kids had to put up with boring meals for the last 2 weeks.

I am not someone who enjoys cooking & baking. I need alot of motivation, inspiration & idiot-proof recipes to do so. Both grannies (popo & nainai) have been very patient. Nainai even compiled some good basic homemade recipes !

Today I made soy sauce chicken wings & I knew it was yum because my fussy son loved the dish!

I also cooked Thai style oven baked wings for daddy. The secret lies in the chilli sauce Nainai made !

Last Friday was their 1st Mandarin lesson ( since the trial lesson in March). I was really nervous about the 40 mins drive ( no traffic jam) to the school. Even with a GPS it was quite scary to drive long distance with 2 unpredictable children in the car !

Thank God we reached the school safe & sound and on time !

Well, obviously Kayla din quite understand the meaning of Mother's day when she asked ME to buy a doll house on that day & thanked me by saying, "Happy Mother's day!"

Maybe to her, it was a day I should give in to all her requests !?!?

Watch him eat

If you have a child who is a fussy eater like my Kieran, then you will understand how stress it is to spend time preparing a meal & desperately trying to get him to take a bite. Even more so after he lost some weight when he was ill last week.

Today I made macaroni bolognese & as I watched him took the first bite, swallowed and then asked for more, I felt like I had just struck lottery !!

So Kieran, now you know one of the ways to my heart is through your tummy !

Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .

With some hints from daddy & some help from his big sister, Kieran completed the 60pcs floor puzzle. He was so tired & mentally drained, he plonked onto the bean bag with a sigh of relief !

Hello Nemo

Kieran is feeling under the weather due to the crazy weather. Past few days have been extremely cold & its only AUTUMN !!

I opened a new box of jigsaw puzzle for him & it kept him occupied for a good 4 hrs - fixed, removed, fixed, removed .. countless times !

Money well spent !!!
